Netflix in January 2019: My Picks

If your New Year’s resolution for next year is going to be watching less TV, then you’re going to have a hard time. Netflix has released their schedule for their new arrivals in January 2019 and it is time to see what shows and films we will need to watch at the start of the year. January is going to be an incredible month just by looking at their releases, and it seems like the past few months Netflix have been increasing the content onto their site. Here are the highlights for the month of January on Netflix:

A Series of Unfortunate Events (season three, 2019) – source: Netflix

A Series of Unfortunate Events (season three)
I have loved the previous two seasons of ASoUE and Neil Patrick Harris is incredible in the role of Count Olaf. The TV series has followed the books and this is going to be the final series, following the end of the book series. I am extremely glad that this series isn’t going beyond the books and just sticking to the source material, and that we are guaranteed to get a solid conclusion to the story. This final season will be uploaded on January 1st, so what better way to get the year started than to watch the most miserable show in existence?

Titans (season one)
If I had to pay for the DC streaming service, I would not be bothering with this franchise. However, Netflix are streaming this show in the UK and I have actually heard some great reviews about it. The trailers have looked disappointing, but I have preferred the way DC deals with their TV shows more than Marvel does, so it will be interesting to see how this show performs overall. Titans will be released on Netflix on the 11th of January.

FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened
The dark side of me loves theories and conspiracies, and one of the biggest scandals in 2017 revolved around the Fyre Festival. If you have not heard about this, do some research on it because it is interesting to see the background on all of this. Netflix does really good documentaries, such as Making a Murderer, so I have a good feeling that this is going to give a lot of insider information and be a thrilling watch. FYRE will be released on Netflix on the 18th of January.

Inception (2010) – source: Warner Bros.

This is an incredible film that I was shown back in college for my film module. I definitely need to go back and watch it again to fully understand it, but it is great that this film is finally coming onto Netflix. This is a film you will need to watch numerous times to get the full story, and it will hook you in until the very last frame. Inception will come to Netflix UK on the 15th of January.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine (season five)
Whilst I still cannot find a specific release date for this yet, it is reported that Brooklyn Nine-Nine will finally be released on Netflix UK in the month of January. This will be perfect to coincide with the new season starting on the 10th of January in America, and if you speak to me for even a few days, you will find out that this is my favourite show in existence. I am hoping this show comes to Netflix soon, because I seriously need to re-watch episodes such as “The Box” and “Jake and Amy”.

Those are my picks for the new releases and arrivals on Netflix UK for the month of January. Of course, there are many more films and TV shows being released next month, so check out the full list yourself and see what ones you are excited about.
