Out of all of the teasers and film trailers that were shown during the Super Bowl this year, the main one of course ended up being Avengers: Endgame. Whilst many people were expecting a full 90 second trailer, we instead ended up with a 30 second teaser for the film. However, in that 30 second teaser we did get completely new shots and information, with many visually stunning moments and a lot of new theories and ideas brought to the forefront. So, of course, it is time to talk about what was shown.
What is a nice touch to the trailer is the opening of the teaser. This not only highlights some of the more iconic shots of the previous movies, but also reminds the audience of the people who had dusted in Avengers: Infinity War. When we see the Avengers preparing to fight near the end of the teaser, this is a reminder of why they are fighting and who the events of the dusting affected. What is also a nice element of this sequence is the colour choice, having black as the main colour but also a splash of red in every moment, which follows the Marvel Studios logo. The logo still has the ten year celebration format and the dusting effect, which may be off as we are now 11 years into Marvel studios, but it a nice touch nonetheless.
This trailer heavily focuses on the tragedy of the snap. The cinematography is a lot darker than most Marvel movies are, but it suits the theme and story of Avengers: Endgame. We get to see the true devastation of the snap, from the shots of the Statue of Liberty down to the counselling meetings featuring Steve Rogers. What was a fun thing to include was to see the Citi Field shown, tying the trailer together with the huge American football event.

Out of every element in this film teaser, the thing that has had audiences feeling most excited is the use of Captain America’s shield. We get a glimpse of it during the introduction with Spider-Man and the Winter Soldier’s shots, but it is near the end that we get to see Captain America getting to use his shield once again, which you can see in the image above. We can presume that this is a new shield that Tony Stark had a prototype for before the events of Avengers: Infinity War, but it is nice to see Cap back with his shield. I was not a fan of the Vibranium shield, and I know other people weren’t either.
This teaser gave us so many new shots, and there are two individual shots that I really loved. One is the shot of Tony and Nebula working together. This not only confirms that they are going to work together to help save each other and get back to Earth, but this also feels like a throwback to the first ever Marvel film, Iron Man, in which we see Tony working on his very first suit. The other shot that particularly stands out is the last shot, in which we see the remaining Avengers on Earth walking in a line, ready to battle. Not only is this a stunning shot that is the form of the shot of the Avengers running to the screen in Wakanda for Avengers: Infinity War, but this is clearly an early shot. Tony and Nebula aren’t there, which suggests that they are still not on Earth, but we also do not see the Hulk on it. We will just have to wait to see what form the Hulk will end up taking in this film, as it seems like the Russo brothers are hiding this.
What did you make of the Avengers: Endgame teaser? Did it get you even more excited for the film, or are you not bothering with the trailers and just want to see the full film? Let me know in the comments below.
